Physical education and other professional group teachers' concerns on body like, body awareness and social appeal evaluation

In this study, it was aimed to evaluate physical education and other teachers' body awareness, body satisfaction and social appearance anxiety according to similarities and differences in terms of various variables. A total of 960 teachers, 459 physical education and 501 other branch teachers, working in the provinces of Elazig, Bingol, Trabzon, Sakarya, Istanbul and Mardin were included in the study. Personal information form, social appearance anxiety, body awareness and body satisfaction scales were applied to these teachers. Statistical analyzes were performed in the SPSS program and the significance level was evaluated as p<0.05. In this study, no difference was found according to the branch and body mass index of physical education and other profession group teachers (p>0.05). Although there was a significant difference in body awareness according to years of service (p<0.05), there was no significant difference in body satisfaction and social appearance anxiety. There was a significant difference only in body awareness according to the gender and age of the teachers (p<0.05). No significant difference was found in body satisfaction and social appearance anxiety (p>0.05). While a significant difference revealed in all sub-dimensions of body awareness scale according to the weight satisfaction of the participants (p<0.05), no difference was found in all components of body general appearance and social appearance anxiety (p>0.05). As a result of the study, it was observed that there was no significant difference between physical education and other teachers' body awareness, body satisfaction and social appearance anxiety scale scores. It can be said that physical education teachers have positive opinions on body awareness, body satisfaction and social appearance anxiety in scale scores compared to their other colleagues, as an advantage of acquiring sports as a profession due to their branch.
