Investigation of the effects of physical education and sports teachers' personality traits on leadership behaviors

The aim of the study is to examine the personality traits and leadership characteristics of physical education and sports teachers and to determine their differences in terms of various variables. The study group of the research consists of 343 physical education and sports teachers working in Antalya province and its districts. In order to determine the socio-demographic characteristics of the teachers participating in the research, a "Personal Information Form" was created by the researcher and the "Four-Dimensional Leadership Scale" and "Ten-item Personality Scale" were used as data collection tools. SPSS 26 program was used for the analysis of the data, and first of all, the normal distribution tests and reliability tests of the scales were performed. The Mann Whitney U test was used to compare the participants' gender, marital status, education level, type of school they work in, participation in specialty seminars and leadership seminars, and sub-dimensions of the scales. Kruskal Wallis H test was used to compare the variables. In addition, the tukey test was applied to determine the differences between the variables. In line with the results of the study; It has been determined that there are significant differences between the leadership characteristics of physical education and sports teachers and the type of school they work, their ages, their length of service, their areas of expertise and their participation in leadership seminars. It has been determined that there are significant differences between the personality traits of physical education and sports teachers, their school type, their positions in the institution they work, their length of service, their fields of expertise and their participation in leadership seminars. As a result of the research, suggestions were made for the results obtained from the study and the results of the research were brought to the literature.
