Investigation of intelligence fields of physical education and sports school students according to multiple intelligence theory

The aim of this study is to examine the differences in multiple intelligence fields according to gender, age, department, class, grade point average, place of residence and sports branch of the students studying in the Department of Physical Education and Sport Teaching, Coaching Education, Sports Management and Recreation in Hatay Mustafa Kemal University School of Physical Education and Sports, which admits students with a special talent exam. The study was conducted using the general survey model, one of the quantitative research methods. The universe of the study is 766 students studying at Hatay Mustafa Kemal University School of Physical Education and Sports in the 2021-2022 academic year; The sample consists of 384 volunteer students, 233 male and 151 female, determined by simple random sampling method from this population. Personal information form with 7 questions that revealed the demographic structures of the students was used and as a data collection tool, the Multiple Intelligence Survey developed by McClellan and Conti (2008) was adapted into Turkish, and the validity and reliability studies were carried out by Babacan and Dilci (2012). Statistical analyzes of the data obtained from the research were made using the IBM SPSS 26.0 program and the level of significance was accepted as (p<.05). Skewness and Kurtosis values were examined to determine the normality of the distribution, and it was seen that the values of each sub-dimension were in the range of -1 to +1, and thus the distribution was normal. In the data showing normal distribution, Independent Sample T Test was applied in paired groups and ANOVA test was applied in groups of more than two. Post Hoc (Tukey - LSD) tests were used to determine the significant difference between more than two groups. As a result of the research, significant differences were observed in the gender, age and sports branch variables that stand out in the life of the students studying in Physical Education and Sport Teaching, Coaching Education, Sports Management and Recreation departments.
