Benchmarking and implement in local government (sample, Nilüfer Municipality)

ABSTRACT BENCHMARKING AND IMPLEMENT IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT (SAMPLE, NİLÜFER MUNICIPALITY) KARAASLAN, Birsen M.A. Thesis, Department of Business Administration Supervisor : Asst. Prof. Cengiz DURAN Semtember, 2014, 144 pages "Benchmarked" get in literatüre with the implementation process of the Xerox company. It is a quality management process which provide the opportunity to businesses, institutions and organizations to develop self-examining with best practices in the industry. With the started to establishment of "New Public Management" in the municipality, "Benchmarking" was an important quality management tool for municipal management and to increase quality of service. In this study, the concept of benchmarking is examined, by considering the historical process and the types of benchmarking and their relationship with the new public management approaches and new management approaches. In the last section the implements of the Municipality of Bursa Nilüfer benchmarking model is examined and evaluated "Applicability of Benchmarking in Local Government".
