Abstract (EN)
The tourism industry is one of the industries that owe its existence to the environment. The ability to carry out tourism activities depends on the suitability of the environment. It is not possible to carry out tourism activities in a deteriorated or destroyed environment. The attractiveness of the environment in some points constitutes the source of tourism movement. Therefore, it will not be incorrect to consider environment as an input for tourism. For this reason, environmental issues are important for accommodation enterprises. The aim of this study is to determine whether five-star hotel enterprises operating in Istanbul adopt and apply environmental awareness practices, to reveal the benefits of these practices for the enterprises, and to make suggestion in relation to environmental awareness practices to the hotel managers according to the results obtained.
