Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to develop a scale and contribute to the national literature by examining the importance, definition, purpose and necessary skills of nutritional literacy. 1256 healthy volunteers aged 18 and over were included in the study. In the first stage of the study, a scale form was created by reviewing the literature and 20 different expert opinions were received for content validity. The form prepared as a result of expert normal distribution index for the 616 people to be used in the explanatory factor analysis was found to be 6.184, and the multivariate normal distribution index for the data of the 640 people to be used in the confirmatorry factor analysis was found to be 5.923. In the model whose significance was tested, the varimax rotation method was used as the factor rotation method. The Kaisen method was preferred in selecting the factors. When the items in the scale form were examined, 37 items were excluded from the study because their loadings were below 0.30, and the scale form was prepared with 21 items. The variance explanation rate of the scale consisting of 21 questions and 4 sub-factors was found to be 70.23%. The created 4-factor and 21-item scale model was confirmed with CFA. As a result of the CFA applied to test the model structure, χ2/sd was found to be 3.631, RMSEA 0.062, GFI 0.907, CFI and IFI 0.939. The reliability analysis phase was started for the scale model whose validity process was completed. The developed Nutrition Literacy scale was found to be both valid and reliable. The possible score for the scale varies between 0 and 84, and the cut-off point was calculated as 21.
