Abstract (EN)
Starting from binaural hearing, which is known to be important in other development areas in addition to language and speaking skills; We will try to observe the difference between them in our study, where we aim to compare the receptive and expressive language skills of children with bilateral devices and bilateral cochlear implants with their normally developing peers. A total of 84 children aged 1 to 6 years, 42 with bilateral cochlear implants and 42 with normal hearing, participated in our study. Children with bilateral hearing aids and bilateral cochlear implants, whose auditory perception (receptive language) and expressive language skills were evaluated by applying the Preschool Language Scale-5 (Preschool Language Scale-5/PLS-5) test, showed improvement in their target skills throughout the education period, but they were normal. It has been determined that they lag behind their peers with hearing. At the same time, when children with bilateral cochlear implants were compared with children with bilateral hearing aids, it was found that the development of receptive and expressive language skills of children with hearing aids was better.
