Abstract (EN)

Information and records management covers the compilation, protection, access, and publication processes of information and/or information resources, and the labour force to handle these affairs is trained through trainings given for this purpose. Additionally, the field, by being affected by and affecting other disciplines, gives meaning to many different concepts and theories, and thus bears the qualification of being an interdisciplinary area of application. Intelligence, on the other hand, is defined as a process that contains gathering, analysis, and evaluation of data, knowledge and information, and activities that provide strategic advantage for decision-makers. The intel resulting from this process carries strategic properties in different disciplines and can be used in various different meanings as profit, efficiency, competition, advantage, proof, evidence, cost, value, and decision. In this context, in order for the decisions taken in all disciplines to yield correct and effective results, where and how the information is gathered and how it is distributed is of extreme importance. In today's world where knowledge is power and information warfare is prevalent, information carries a strategic power position for individuals, institutions, organizations, international companies, and states in the production of intelligence in light of developments in security and technology. By analysing the relationships of the discipline of information and records management with library, information, and archival sciences, and with other primary disciplines and by scrutinizing its connection with intelligence disciplines in particular, assessing the importance, goal, and future of the discipline of information and records management, developing training processes up to today's standards, providing department graduates with new job opportunities along with new developments in security and technology, and promoting its importance for the organizations are required. As a result of which, a field that is able to train the labour power that can partake in intelligence activities emerges.
