An information ethics theory in the context of information philosophy: Flourishing ethics

This study is about the examination and investigation of Flourishing Ethics. Flourishing Ethics is Terrell Ward Bynum's proposal of an information ethics theory to the information age people. These individuals live in the same infosphere in terms of quality, methodology approach, and philosophical content. In this study, there is importance to the description and analysis of the theory. In addition, the methodology and approach that constitutes the theory, the philosophical tradition, and scientific discipline, efforts have been made to develop the theory. In the Introduction part of our study, (First Chapter) the theory, introduction of the theory, basic problems of information ethics, chronological development of the subject, discussions/opinions within the relevant boundaries, and explanations made about the purpose and method were given. In the second part, the grounds of "the proposal for a new perspective change in ethics" (where Bynum justifies his logical justification based on the philosophy of science), the anomaly that Bynum identified in ethics with a terminology inspired by Kuhn, and the explanations of the problems that he aimed to solve in the ethics of information with these determinations are examined. In the third chapter, Aristotle's philosophy and Norbert Wiener's Cybernetic science, which form the roots of Flourishing ethics, are put forward by considering its connection with the theory, and the position of "flourishing" traditional and contemporary thought. In the fourth chapter, Human-Centered Flourishing Ethics, the first component of Bynum Flourishing Ethics theory, which consists of two sub-components as Human-Centered FE and General Flourishing Ethics, is explained. Human-centered FE, with its Aristotelian foundations, considers humans as an information object due to its cybernetic nature. In this section, the concepts and issues that constitute the possibility and basis of the flourishing of the human being, who is considered as an information object, as an ethical human being are given. In the fifth chapter, the second component that makes up Flourishing Ethics is the foundations of the General Flourishing Ethics Theory are explained. In addition, cybernetic science, the second law of thermodynamics in physics and how the new materialist thought in metaphysics is associated with ethics are explained. In the conclusion, the extent to which the objectives stated in the introduction of the study are approached are explained. In addition, the philosophical findings about the chapters are evaluated, and suggestions are presented
