This research was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study to determine the effect of cognitive behavioral approach-based psychoeducation on the cognitive emotion regulation strategies and negative emotional symptom levels of emerging adults who experienced an earthquake. The sample of the study consisted of 61 emerging adults between the ages of 18-29 who experienced an earthquake. The data of the research were collected between 23 October and 20 December 2023 with the "Personal Information Form", "Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale" and "Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale". Cognitive Behavioral Approach-Based Psychoeducation Program was implemented as group training 2 days a week and a total of 9 sessions. After the Psychoeducation Program, the intervention group's total score averages for the adaptive cognitive emotion regulation subscales were significantly higher, the maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation subscales total score averages were significantly lower, and the depression, anxiety, and stress subscale total score averages were significantly lower than the control group. was determined (p<0.05). In the intra-group comparison of the intervention group after the Psychoeducation Program, posttest and follow-up test compatible cognitive emotion regulation subscales total score averages increased significantly, maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation subscales total score averages significantly decreased, and Depression, Anxiety, Stress subscales total score averages decreased significantly. It was determined that it decreased significantly (p<0.05). In the intragroup comparison of the control group, it was determined that there was no significant difference in the total score averages of the adaptive and maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation subscales and the Depression, Anxiety, Stress subscales (p>0.05). The Cognitive Behavioral Approach-Based Psychoeducation Program is effective in increasing the level of use of adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, decreasing the level of use of maladaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies, and reducing the levels of depression, anxiety and stress of emerging adults who have experienced an earthquake.
