Abstract (EN)

This thesis tries to reveal that technological determinism, which is a very important theory in communication studies, is fed by a modern epistemology that has not been processed until now. This is intended for two purposes. The first is to show that technological determinism is not simply an ideological position or an error of thought, as is often thought. Technological determinism, with its specific conceptual and intellectual apparatus, is still the face of an important and powerful epistemological positioning in media studies in relation to human, society, nature, science and technique. Secondly, it is to show that technological determinism based on this positioning is not the product of a temporary theoretical frenzy, as is often thought. Technological determinism actively takes place in minds in every situation that does not come to terms with the acceptances of this epistemological positioning. It is still active, from simple everyday thoughts that life is not the same before and after technologies, to futuristic ideas that predict technology will dehumanize humans and that technology-dominated societies will come in a robotic world. The idea that it is essential to examine technological determinism today in its relation to this epistemological positioning is the basis of this thesis, in order to think about its causes, consequences and meanings correctly.
