A psychological assessment of an era: Yildirim Bayezid and the evaluation of the period by psychohi̇story approach

Psychohistory, which is the intersection of history and psychology disciplines and a two-way analysis method, is a virgin research field that has just begun to gain popularity in Turkey. The foundation period of the Ottoman Empire from the foundation of the Ottoman Empire until the end of the Yildirim Bayezid period is one of the subjects that should be addressed within this field. As a matter of fact, it is possible to explain the reasons for the early rise and fall of the Ottomans during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid with a psychohistorical approach. In this study, firstly, the Ottoman foundation period until the Yildirim Bayezid period will be examined with the psychohistory approach. In this way, the necessary infrastructure will be created for the psychological analysis of Yildirim Bayezid Khan and the events of his period, which is the main research subject. No work has yet been written on the psychological aspects of Yildirim Bayezid and the events of his period, which was characterized by wars and various struggles. For this reason, Bayezid's biography will be examined together with the events he experienced and witnessed, psychological elements, hereditary and environmental factors. Afterwards, the factors affecting the psychology of Yildirim Bayezid will be analyzed and their effects on state administration, political and diplomatic decisions, military organizations, etc. will be revealed.
