Abstract (EN)
Nurses are always intertwined with stressful experiences such as the intensity of the constant workload, caring for serious and terminally ill patients, and providing emotional support to patients and their relatives when necessary. Therefore, the tolerance levels of nurses are extremely important in terms of the overall satisfaction of patients treated in hospitals for health problems. In particular, tolerance levels are at the top of the factors that determine nurses' behavior towards patients. This study was carried out as a crosssectional, descriptive study in order to determine the demographic factors affecting the tolerance levels of nurses working in Ondokuz Mayıs University Pediatrics Department. In this study, data were obtained from a total of 257 people who accepted the study in Ondokuz Mayıs University Pediatrics Department between January 2 and February 27, 2020 and met the criteria of the study. Licensed SPSS (IBM SPSS for Windows, ver.21) program was used to evaluate the data of the study. Among the statistical analysis techniques, frequency analysis, reliability analysis, Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskall Wallis test and Spearman correlation analysis were used. As a result of the study, it was found that nurses with relatively high income levels have higher tolerance levels. It was found that the tolerance levels of nurses with a monthly income of 7000 TL and above were significantly higher than those with an income between 5501 TL - 7000 TL. In addition, this study clearly reveals that as the working time of nurses increases, the level of tolerance increases. There is no statistically significant difference for the tolerance scores in the other test results applied (p> 0.05). According to the results of the study, it is recommended to carry out studies to increase job satisfaction of nurses in pediatric hospital units in order to prevent the negative working conditions in pediatric hospital departments from causing intolerance and burnout.
