Abstract (EN)
The increasing proliferation of consumer societies and the passion for shopping have been increasing globally across social, religious, cultural and geographical boundaries. When studies about the socio-demographic factors affecting consumption and consumer behaviors in the literature are examined, it is seen that variables such as income, gender, age, education, and settlement place come to the forefront. As a reflection of the general picture in the world, in our country, individuals' and groups' tendency towards consumption shows changes according to socio-demographic factors. There are many situations caused by consumption and consumer behaviors. While shopping becomes one of the main reasons for the happiness of individuals with a high consumption level, a sense of unhappiness arises due to the inability of individuals with a low consumption level to reach the same consumption level. Despite the various campaigns and legal arrangements in order to prevent overconsumption in the world and in Turkey for many years, enough success has not been achieved to this aim. In this context, the study aims to examine the effects of socio-demographis and economic factors on consumption preferences of individuals living in Turkey. In this study, within the scope of this purpose, the factors affecting the consumption expenditures of individuals have been investigated by regression analysis, and then the quantile regression model was estimated in order to determine whether the relationship between consumption expenditures and the factors affecting create awareness of how much increased and will attempt to demonstrate the causes and consequences of their spending among consumers consumption society in Turkey with this work.
