Teacher labor turnover as a regional educational problem: Advantages and disadvantages

The purpose of this research; Teacher workforce turnover rate as a regional education problem: to reveal the advantages and disadvantages and to offer suggestions for decreasing the teacher workforce turnover rate. This research was conducted using the qualitative research method. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with a total of 15 people working in the center and districts of Siirt including teachers, administrators and 1 expert working in the Directorate of National Education in Siirt. The findings indicate that the teacher workforce turnover rate is high in Siirt, and although this situation has some positive effects, it has a negative impact on school administrations, teachers and students in general. In addition, the reasons for teacher workforce turnover in Siirt province were researched; It has been concluded that factors such as inadequacies in transportation and health, security problems, lack of socio-cultural activities, inadequacy of incentives such as housing and additional fees are effective in this regard. The participants stated that the measures taken by the Ministry of National Education were insufficient to prevent this situation. In the study, some suggestions were presented in the light of the opinions of the participants in order to reduce the teacher workforce turnover rate. Finally, the measures to be taken regarding the current problems in teacher appointments and education planning were mentioned.
