Abstract (EN)
After the Second World War, the European economy began to reshape. The need for a labour force emerged in Western European countries that wanted to build their economies on production. Germany tried to resolve this issue through migrant worker agreements with Eastern and Southern European countries and Turkey. On the other hand, Britain made it easier for people from its former colonies to come to the country so that it could provide more labour force. People who migrated to these countries to find jobs have produced their literary works. The aim of this study is to shed light on the lives of Turkish migrant workers in Germany and Caribbean immigrants in Britain in the second half of the 19th century by examining Yüksel Pazarya's Oturma İzni: Güz Rengi and Samuel Selvon's The lonely Londoners. The study also aims to compare the difficulties experienced by these two immigrant communities and how they are conveyed in literary works. Yüksel Pazarkaya and Samuel Selvon, who wrote their works in the first years of the aforementioned migration movements, aim to express the problems of the immigrant communities they represent. Their works, which mirror the life of the societies they deal with, also provide information about the political, social, and economic orders prevailing in Germany and England of the period. In this study, the major themes in the works are compared in terms of their scopes and how they are processed throughout the works. The common and divergent aspects of the works are tried to be determined. In this way, it is aimed at making a general assessment of the effects of migration on immigrants and host communities by examining the migration movements to Germany and England in the same period.
