Assessing the sociodemographic characteristics and the probability of depression of doctors working in emergency services in Bursa

SUMMARY Assessing the Sociodemographic Characteristics and the Probability of Depression of Doctors Working in Emergency Services in Bursa. This study was planned among public hospitals in Bursa province among the emergency service doctors. Within this scope, a total of 211 medicines, 120 practitioners, 56 resident doctors and 35 specialist doctors were reached and filled out the questionnaire form. The resident doctors who provided clinical compliance without being included in the survey were based on voluntary basis. Doctors who did not want to participate in the study were not included in the sample. According to findings obtained from the study, 47.39% of the doctors were mild, 29.86% were mild, 19.91% were moderate and 2.84% had severe depression possibility. There was, however, a significant difference in depression levels according to the duration of work in the profession. According to this, 54.2% of the cases with less than 1 year of professional experience had mimimal, 37.5% of mild, 4.2% of moderate and 4.2% of severe depression whereas in 11 years and above group;76.9% of the cases had minimal, 15.4% had mild and 7.7% had moderate depression possibility. The level of income was another factor that made a meaningful difference from the depression level of the doctors. Finally, there was a significant difference between the levels of depression according to the state of affirmation of the work done. In conclusion; In our study in which the evaluation of the depression levels of the emergency doctors working in Bursa province according to their sociodemographic characteristics was aimed, it was determined that the emotional experience, income level and satisfaction with the work done were important factors in the depression probability of our emergency doctors.
