Investigation of the effect of holistic awareness education on the self-regulation and social skills of pre-school children

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of "Holistic Awareness Education" in preschool education on children's self-regulation and social skills. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the effects of children's awareness of social skills and self-regulation during pre-school education period on children. In the study, the quasi-experimental research model "Pre-Test-Post-Test Control and Experiment Group" was used. After the quantitative process, a qualitative interview was conducted to get the opinions of the children and the experimental group teacher. The study group of the study conducted with the mixed research model consists of two private kindergartens affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the province of Ankara. Appropriate sampling method was used for participant selection. The research group consists of 60 children, 20 of whom are experimental and 40 are control, during the pre-school education period. In the research, "Self-Regulation Skills Scale" and "Social Skills Assessment Scale", "Child Interview Form" and "Teacher Interview Form" were used as data collection tools. As a result of the study, it was determined that the experimental group and the control group 1 and 2 showed statistically significant differences between their ability to regulate, SCA and its sub-dimensions. According to this, in the post-test results, the total average of the experimental group's Self-Regulation Skills Scale and its sub-dimensions (the regulation skills) and the Social Skills Assessment Scale and its sub-dimensions, were higher than the control groups. This shows the effect of holistic awareness training.
