Abstract (EN)
Global warming and climate change are among the most important challenges facing us today internationally. The increases in carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and the effects of these increases on the Earth, are key issues that need to be addressed in order to leave a more livable world for both present and future generations. Many economic activities are affected by climate change. The prevention of this global problem, which has a negative impact on development and the economy in particular, is seen as a must for the cooperation of countries. Countries need to meet with national policies as well as with international cooperative units to jointly contribute in order to solve this problem. Many agreements have been signed with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) on preventing climate change, which has a significant place in international studies. The content of the signed agreements generally consists of the fiscal policies that states need to implement to tackle this global crisis. The creation of international organizations to prevent global warming and work on this has also begun to implement green policies that help prevent the problem of climate change within the fiscal policies of governments. Environmental and clean policies leading in the fight against global warming are among the most important policies implemented. As a result of industries and industrial activities increasing levels of polluting gases in the atmosphere, green and environmental policies are used to prevent pollution, especially from industrial activities. With the introduction of environmental taxes and the use of market economy solutions in the fight against global warming, the spread of green policies has been facilitated. Especially today, solutions to the global climate crisis have begun to be found thanks to rapidly spreading green cities and green infrastructure policies. In this study, the impact of global warming on major cities will be analyzed by comparing the cities of Şanlıurfa and Kocaeli. Keywords: Global warming, climate change, green cities, Şanlıurfa, Kocaeli, city, big cities.
