Abstract (EN)
Sports, especially for people of all ages, are highly important for physical and mental health within society. Therefore, sports services are considered a significant area for public administrations, particularly in the context of youth engagement. The role and necessity of local governments in promoting and expanding sports are evident. Metropolitan municipalities contribute to the sporting activities of urban dwellers and amateur sports clubs to the best of their capabilities. In this study, the importance of sports in community life and the effectiveness of public institutions in Turkey, particularly local governments, in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities related to sports are examined. As an example, the sports services provided by Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality are analyzed to highlight expectations regarding sports services.
