Abstract (EN)

Henrik Ibsen's "Nora: A Doll's House" deals with a chain of interconnected relationships built on the themes of gender roles and women's liberation, and on this axis, this thesis aims to build a bridge from the 19th century to the 21st century with Ibsen's Nora, pointing out the active role of men against the passive role of gender roles assigned to women and making visible the traces of the transformation of women's passivity. The thesis presents an evaluation of the text of the play by centering on gender theory and Beauvoir's research and discourses on the female gender, aiming to examine the transformation that womanhood is shaped by a social construction and, in this sense, the transformation that woman goes through in search of the traces of her own self under the framework of the concepts of 'agent-subject'. In this context, this thesis aims to create a source for the interpretation of the character of Nora and the work in understanding the historical development of contemporary women's liberation and the construction of gender roles.
