Reflections of contemporary art criticism theories on Turkish painting art (1950-2000)

This doctoral thesis examines the influence of art theories on Turkish painting criticism between 1950 and 2000. Art criticism published in various periodicals during this period is analyzed. The ways in which Western theoretical approaches to art have impacted Turkish painting criticism are investigated. These approaches are evaluated within the social, political, and cultural framework of Turkey, providing a framework to understand the evolution of contemporary Turkish painting. The results demonstrate how Turkish painting has developed under the influence of contemporary art theories and reveal the interactions between the Turkish art scene and these theoretical approaches.
