Essays on the adapting of glass art to today's tile art

The Seljuk period holds the most significant examples of the formation and development of Turkish tile and glass art. This study examines the technical application methods of tile and glass artworks, comparing their characteristics across the Seljuk, Ottoman, and contemporary periods. Although tile and glass art share similar techniques and craftsmanship, they are distinct disciplines that complement each other and are used separately within a whole. However, these two techniques do not appear as a unified form in applications. The subject of this thesis is to present glass and tile art in an integrated manner from both a technical and practical perspective. In this context, the objective is to present the technical details of the work created from glass and tile materials which were produced in the same kiln, as a single piece, and simultaneously fired. The compositions derived from traditional tile art motifs are synthesized with glass art and presented as a monolithic work. Keywords: Tile Art, Glass Art
