Abstract (EN)

This thesis was submitted to the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences, Department of Forestry in Ankara University. In this thesis, it was aimed to make suggestions in terms of the rural development introducing the reasons and results of rural poverty of three forest villages (Aşağıöz, Ayseki and Sarıkaya) located in Çankırı which have arid and semi-arid climate. It was sought to find a way to reduce the negative influence on forest contributing the development of a society who live in forest villages in economic and social perspectives and put the forest peasant in a position of a producer personally in some area to product, develop and to increase the forest providing the management of sustainable natural resource. SWOT analysis was made to identify the strengths and weakness, opportunity and threat of village?s development concerning the rural development. 10 strengths, 17 weakness, 3 opportunity and 4 threats facts were found at the end of the study. According to the findings, for preventing poverty, it was stated that the stock raising sector, which provides the most important economical input, should have been improved and was also stated that there was not enough employment in the the forestry sector, which is the most important income for forest villages. The national income per person was found as 3.750 $ in the study field.
