Determining of urban open-green space system of Cankiri

Decreased open green areas, increased demands for recreational areas, and increased ecological based problems resulted in needs for developments of open green systems in cities in Turkey. Çankırı urban and its ambience are faced serious problems such as poor plant cover, severe erosion, flooding, and soil salinity. To date, no green-open area systems have been developed, evaluating and mitigating these problems in a structure-function concept of landscape components. This study was carried out in the sub-basin called "Kızılırmak-Korgun Project" which covers the districts of Yapraklı, Eldivan, Korgun and Çankırı urban. Natural and cultural landscape characteristics of Çankırı province were the main subject and vital material of the study. In the study which analyzed the water and erosion processes, spatial analyzes were performed in accordance with the methods used by different researchers (Uzun vd. 2012, Şahin vd. 2013) in order to identify both primary protection areas and potential recreation areas. The analyzes were performed by overlaying the topographical maps, geology, soil, land cover maps and current master plan data of the research area in ArcGIS 10.0 GIS software. In the study, structural and functional properties of landscape components of Çankırı urban and its ambience were evaluated by green-open planning concept, and an urban green-space system was proposed for Çankırı.
