Life of Cemil Cahit Güzelbey, his literaray personality and folkloric activities (A research on his published and not published works)

Giving uncalculable works to the folkloric culture, Gaziantep has been one of the important cultural cities, in which lots of works, which became resoverce for folkloric literature, came to the light. But, efforts made for transfering these important resources to our days have been inadequate. To search the life, literary personality and works of Cemil Cahit Güzelbey will contribute to our literature and Turkish folkloric culture, also it will be helpful for transfering these resources to our days. Analyzing social and cultural history of Gaziantep and Cemil Cahit Güzelbey, who was a reseacher, writer and a folklorist in this history, the value of an important person who contributed in enhancing our folklore will be put forth in consideration. In Gaziantep city, in which spiritual culture is very rich, to know Cemil Cahit Güzelbey, to analyze his works will be very important study in knowing people in the area and their customs, also in the point of view of recognizing the richness of Turkish folkloric culture. In this study, Cemil Cahit Güzelbey?s published reseaches in many newspapers and periodicals which cover folkloric values, customs, morals, wearing, beliefs, food, touristic values, music, hand arts, etc of Gaziantep, will be analyzed.Key words: Gaziantep, Folkloric, Folkloric culture, Cemil Cahit Güzelbey.
