Abstract (EN)
Although road pavement can lose strength and start to develop some damage with the time so as an engineer in this field, we must find a good balance between the capacity of the pavement and the load due to the cars to growth the life of the road. Many studies on pavement capacity are very scattered and no published pavement inspection protocols specific to pavements in Djibouti are available. The purpose of this work is to summarize and consolidate current knowledge about the stresses of use, weather, materials impact on road life, and how to rehabilitate existing roads or build long-lasting roads. The scope of this work includes extensive literature research, testing of several roads in Djibouti using existing road data, and several reports published by Djiboutian government. Literature reviews include reviews of published standards, technical reports, and scientific papers. Topics covered in the review include the actual conditions of roads in Djibouti, the residual mechanical properties of concrete and bituminous pavements and their behaviour with respect to climate and loads, and various methods of repairing damage. The outcomes of geotechnical test will be used to design a road with Alizee LCPC software. Lastly, based on the research experimental testing, recommendations for future work are presented.
