Abstract (EN)

The aim of the thesis titled as "Sexual Prejudice and Stigma: Social Exclusion of LGBT Individuals" is to show the effects of societal stigmas on the lives of LGBT individuals and to determine in which areas they are socially excluded and discriminated. The results obtained from the analyzes conducted for this purpose are expected to contribute to the scientific knowledge about stamp and discrimination against LGBT individuals.. In order to examine the processes of discrimination and stigma in detail, both qualitative and quantitative research teqniques were used. In the quantitative part, the questionnaire prepared on the basis of the conceptual framework of the study was applied to 187 people over the internet. In the qualitative part, a semi-structured interview form was used to interview 10 people. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed using the SPSS software and the tables and graphs created from the data were supported with the responses from the semi-structured interviews. It was discovered that LGBT individuals experience various forms of discrimination and stigma in many areas of life and are affected negatively by these experiences. Although not all participants experienced each and every type of discrimination, all types of discrimination were experienced by at least one participant. Although LGBT individuals struggle to obtain the same rights as non-LGBT individuals and experience varios forms of discrimination, it was observed that several prominent themes regarding the elimination of these prejudices emerged naturally in he data and the interviews.
