The transcription and evaluation of the Population Book of Mamervan Sanjak in the Province of Çıldır numbered 2770

The most important sources of Ottoman period researches are undoubtedly in the Ottoman Archives, which are bound to the Presidency of State Archives. Population Registers in the archive contains important data for many research areas, especially city history. With the abolition of the Janissary Corps in 1826, the Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye army was established. In order to determine the potential of the male population which suitable for military service throughout the country to meet the military needs of this newly established army, a census was started across the country in 1831. Even though census in Mamervan Sanjak, Çıldır, Erzurum City was started in 1831, it could only be completed in 1835. The biggest reason for this delay was the lack of trained personnel to carry out transportation and counting. In this study, which is Çıldır City Mamervan Sanjak Population Register with the number 2770, the number of villages, the names of the people living in each village, their physical characteristics, professional information, and the titles they use were evaluated based on the information we obtained from the population register. This study consists of introduction, first part, second part and conclusion part. In the introduction, the method and framework of the study are emphasized. In the first part, the population records in the book are evaluated in many ways. In this section, the population data of the Mamervan Sanjak villages of Çıldır Province are presented by adhering to the book. In the second part, the related notebook was transcribed. In the conclusion part, a general evaluation was made in the light of the data obtained from the notebook.
