Investigation of relationship between the ?students of child-friendly schools? project and their non-child friendly counterparts from the viewpoint of self-concept and aggression

This study was carried out to find out the relationship between the students of child-friendly schools and their non-child friendly counterparts from the viewpoint of self-concept and aggression.The study was done by the relational survey method and the data to assess the chilren's self-concept and aggression perception were obtained by using the Self-concept Scale developed by Piers-Harris and the `?ZDEÖ?? Aggressive Behavior Tendency Scale by Satan(2006). The Self-concept Scale for Children is made up of 80 articles. It has 6 sub-tests which are behavior, intelligence and their school performance, physical appearance, anxiety, popularity and happiness. The Aggressive Behavior Tendency Scale consists of 67 articles. It has 4 sub-dimensions which are physical aggression, verbal aggression, aggression for fun and emotional aggression.The sub-dimensions of self-concept which are behavior, intelligence and school performance, physical appearance, anxiety, popularity and their relationships with demographic factors (age, gender, grade, etc.) were studied. The sub-dimensions, physical aggression, verbal aggression, emotional aggression and aggression for fun were studied from the viewpoint of the same demographic factors. Later, the relationship between the students of child-friendly schools and of the non-child-friendly schools was studied from the viewpoint of self-concept and aggression.This study was carried out at randomly chosen 6 primary schools on the Anatolian side of Istanbul in the 2008-2009 Education Year.As a result of this study we can conclude that there is a relationship between the students of child-friendly schools and of non-child-friendly schools from the point of self-concept and aggression.
