Abstract (EN)

Seismic movements affect the structure distinctly under the influence of local site characteristics. Weak soils are at risk during earthquakes due to increased wave amplitudes. Developments in microzonation have gained momentum with the increased attention given to the soil-structure interaction issue after devastating earthquakes in Turkey. In this study, for the Buğday Pazarı District of Çankırı province, a site class map, SPT map, shear wave velocity map and ground-water level map have been created with Geographical Information System (GIS) program by using borehole logs and site investigation reports obtained from the Çankırı Municipality Zoning and Urbanization Directorate. Areas of large-scale damaging potential of an earthquake in areas with local soil class ZF have been identified. It has been suggested that ground improvement should be applied in these areas and it has been pointed out that the areas are not suitable for high-rise construction. In order to obtain reliable results in evaluating the liquefaction potential, it has been recommended to reach a drilling depth of at least 30 meters and to increase the number of laboratory experiments in which soil characteristics are determined.
