Ecological risk assessment of Beyşehir lake watershed using geographical information system

An ecological risk assessment is the process for evaluating how likely it is that the environment may be impacted as a result of exposure to one or more environmental stressors such as chemicals, land change, disease, invasive species and climate change. The agricultural risks are an important factor in stressors. Agricultural chemicals are risk source for soil and water due to their properties. In addition, application of agricultural machine and equipment on soil is a risk factor for soil structure. For this reason, the determination of ecological risk of soil and land and evaluation of agricultural risk in ecological risk need for sustainable land management. The first step of this process is classification of land according to ecological aspects. The aim of this project is to determine land under the ecological risk in Beyşehir Lake Watershed and to generate a solution for agricultural risks In this study, remote sensing techniques and geographic information systems technologies will be used. Project study is included office, land and laboratory applications. Data collection, sampling and measurements will conduct in land surveys. Laboratory studies will consist of analysis of the sampled soil and plants. Laboratory studies will consist of analysis of the sampled soil and plants. Office study will include in image processing, producing map layers and analysis of geographic data in information systems. To risk assessment, topographic maps, soil maps, soil analyzes, climate data, land use type maps, vegetation maps and plant pattern of study area will be evaluated in a systematic methods. The classification result will be compared with the natural structure of the classes and the long-term sustainability of the land will be evaluated. At the results, ecological risk of soil and land will be determined and the agricultural risk will be evaluated. A proposal to solve the problem will be developed.
