Abstract (EN)
This thesis aims to analyze the ideological and cultural conflict that took place between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics by focusing on the propaganda activities executed through film and cinema. In a bipolar international system, establishing a cultural and ideological hegemony is a critical element for both survival and winning the hearts and minds of the people. Main categories such as the role of intelligence services, and relationship between propaganda, culture, identity, and decision-making are analyzed with the aim of understanding the initial effect and aim of the political propaganda messages. In each category, definitions, and perspective attached to the respective concepts, and fields are analyzed to establish the connection between them and the cinema.
