Conservation and evaluation of the Swiss missionary hospital in Şanliurfa

In this study, titled "Conservation and Evaluation of the Swiss Missionary Hospital in Şanlıurfa", the current situation of the building was evaluated in the light of the researches and collected data on the examined building, and a documentation process was carried out regarding the building from the present to the past. As a result of this documentation process, the building, which is used as a Traditional Handicrafts Center today; It has been determined that it was a traditional Şanlıurfa house before it was used as a hospital in the past, and then it was reused as a hospital with the additions made to the sections remaining from the Şanlıurfa house. In the first stage of the study, the general characteristics of Şanlıurfa were explained so that the building could be evaluated in terms of its environment and history, and in this section, the traditional architecture and belief history of Şanlıurfa were emphasized. Since the examined building was used as a hospital for a period, data on the development of health services were collected in the second stage. Since it is known that the building was used as a hospital in the axis of missionary activities, in the next stage, the Missionary activities in the Ottoman and Şanlıurfa and the health services carried out by the missionaries within this framework were explained. In the light of these data, survey drawings describing the history, location, features and current situation of the building were made and evaluated. With the collected data and documents, analysis of the building and restitution drawings were made, and restoration proposals and restoration project were developed to protect the building. In this study, it is aimed to transfer the building to future generations without losing its historical document quality and architectural features.
