Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on high school students' motivation to participate in physical activity. The restrictions brought by the pandemic and the distance education process may have negatively affected young people's participation in physical activities. Therefore, the research aims to provide a comprehensive examination to understand high school students' motivations for participating in physical activities after the pandemic. In the study, students' physical activity habits, motivation levels, activity preferences and the strategies they suggest to increase their motivation during the pandemic period will be determined through comprehensive surveys and focus group discussions. The data obtained will include changes in motivation levels compared to before the pandemic, factors affecting motivation, and suggested solutions to encourage students' participation in physical activity. The results show the results of a scale measuring motivation to participate in physical activity. When the responses to different items of the scale are examined, it is seen that the participants mostly use the expression "strongly agree". Looking at the scale sub-dimensions, the average of individual reasons is higher than environmental reasons and lack of reason. These findings indicate that the scale assessing motivation to participate in physical activity has high overall reliability (Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.808). It can be concluded that the participants generally evaluated participation in physical activity positively and that their motivation was mostly high. These data can be a valuable resource for understanding what factors may come to the fore when developing physical activity promotion programs or motivation-boosting strategies. In particular, the fact that individual reasons are higher than other sub-dimensions shows that individuals' personal motivations may play an important role in determining participation in physical activity.
