Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was aimed to examine school burnout and educational stress in high school students in terms of parental attitudes during the Covid-19 process. In line with this main purpose, first of all, the effects of the parent attitude scale on dependent variables school burnout and educational stress were examined, then the effects and relationships between high school students' school burnout and educational stress levels were examined and it was tested whether these variables differed significantly in terms of demographic variables. The research group of the study consists of 173 students residing in Istanbul and continuing their high school education in the 2020-2021 academic year. Relational screening method was used in the study. The necessary data from the participants were obtained with the help of tools such as the Educational Stress Scale, the School Burnout Scale and the Parental Attitude Scale, and the Personal Information Form was shared with the students in order to determine the demographic characteristics of the students. In the analysis of the data obtained, SPSS for Windows 22.00 and AMOS 24.0 programs were used, and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out in order to check the structural validity of the Parental Attitude (PA), Educational Stress Scale (ESS) and School Burnout Inventory (SBI) used in the study. As a result of the analyses, it has been determined that 3 scales and all sub-dimensions are at the 'high reliability' level and its validity is ensured. The normality analysis of the size averages of the scales was performed by calculating the skewness and kurtosis coefficients. It was understood that the obtained dimension averages were in accordance with the normal distribution in all dimensions according to the demographic characteristics, and therefore the variables were tested with the independent sample t-test from parametric tests and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). As a result of the analyses made, it was found that dependent variables burnout and stress do not differ according to gender, grade level, educational status of parents, that parental attitudes have positive and significant effects on school burnout and educational stress level, and that they predict educational stress at the rate of (R2= ,16) 16% and school burnout at the rate of 6%. (R2= ,06). It was determined that the Democratic attitude dimension, which is one of the parent attitude sub-dimensions, did not affect the education stress variable and school burnout variable (P>0.05), and also the protective parent attitude did not affect the school burnout variable (P>0.05). In terms of effects, the effect of Protective parent attitude on the Educational Stress Scale score (β= ,235; p<0.05) was positive and significant; it predicted educational stress (R2= 0.156) by 15.6%. It was determined that the effect of authoritarian parenting attitude on Educational Stress (β= .238; p<0.05) was positive and significant, and it predicted educational stress (R2= .145) by 14.5 percent. What is more, It was determined that the effect of authoritarian parental attitude on the school burnout variable (β= .304; p<0.05) was positive and significant, and it predicted school burnout (R2= .184) by 18.4 percent. Regarding the relationships between dependent variables, it was seen that the effect of educational stress on school burnout (β=.567; p<0.05) was positive and significant, and educational stress predicted school burnout (R2= .314) by 31.4%. Research findings are presented by considering the results, recommendations, literature and previous studies.
