Abstract (EN)

Alternative raw materials, including industrial by-products, are necessary for a sustainable cement industry. The use of natural resources and energy is reduced when clinker is replaced by industrial by-products. As a result, both cost effective and environmentally friendly cements are created. Standard blended cements can be made from a variety of industrial by-products including fly ash, silica fume, and slag, which is one of the most widely used industrial by-products. Today, Portland cement is the most widely used material in the construction of many buildings. The objective of this study is to investigate the effects of blast furnace slag on the compressive strength of concrete. In a building construction the most important property sought is the compressive strength. The objective of this thesis is to show the variabilities that can be encountered in the determination of the compressive strength. For this purpose, blast furnace slag (BFS) and natural pozzolan Portland cements were used. In this experimental study, three tests were carried out with different percentages of slag, in the mixture 0%, 10%, 15% of slag were used. The compressive strength of 3days, 7days, 28days of concrete is determined in accordance with TS 12390-3. According to the results obtained in this study, the deviations of the results of concrete compressive strength obtained by applying the TS 12390-3 standard are, the result of 10% slag is higher than that of 0% slag and the result 15% slag is higher than 10% slag. Therefore, it is proposed that the use of slag in concrete is suitable because it increases the strength of concrete.
