Abstract (EN)

While traditional economic theories define individuals as completely rational decision-makers, behavioural economics reveals that individuals' decisions are influenced by emotional, social and psychological factors. In this study, an behavioural economics method was used to conduct a laboratory experiment to examine individuals' charitable giving and norm elicition perceptions. The experiment was conducted at the Behavioural and Experimental Research Laboratory (SUBEL) of Selçuk University using z-Tree software, with the participation of 168 students from various departments of Selçuk University. Demographic data such as participants' income levels, ages, and hometowns were also collected and used in the analysis. This study provides experimental evidence that social norms play a decisive role in individuals' economic decisions. The findings obtained through the norm elicition method show that individuals act not only according to their personal preferences but also according to environmental expectations and observations. The results indicate that charitable giving behaviour is closely related to normative perceptions.
