Studies on the synthesis of deethyltubifolidine

The biological activites of alkaloits draw attention from a pharmacological point of view. Today, alkaloids are used in the treatment of cancer, tuberculosis, HIV and nervous system diseases, which are the most important ones. Alkaloids are found in different parts of plants. However, since they are obtained in very small amounts from plants, studies on their synthetic synthesis have gained importance. The basic structure of Strychnos alkaloids is the methanoazacino[4,3b]indole skeleton. In this work, we present a new method fort he formation of the tetracyclic ring system and demonstrate the total synthesis of deethyltubifolidin. Whit this method, 20-deethyltubifolidin was obtained in %49 yield.
