Siirt deputies of the Democratic Party period and their political activities

It is obvious that the Democratic Party period, which is one of the most sensitive periods of the modernizing and democratizing process of the Turkish Republic, plays an important role in the political life of Turkey. In this process, it is known that the center-country relations in the political, economic and social context were established on solid foundations, the representation of the will of the people in the parliament increased, and many important steps were taken to reach the prosperous levels of modern states. In addition to this, it is also explained as the process in which the most painful and depressive events in Turkey's political life were experienced. The roles played by the deputies, who won the right to represent the province as well as the center in this critical period, in Turkish politics is remarkable. The determination and effort of the DP deputies, who perform their ministerial duties as well as the deputy, cannot be denied. Based on this idea, in the study; The focus is on the political activities of the deputies elected during the DP period in Siirt, one of the ancient cities of Anatolia. The reflections of the elections in Siirt within the scope of the examined period were examined, the attitudes of the elected deputies towards the country's problems of the period were examined and particularly the political attitudes of Siirt towards the social, economic, public works and education needs of the country were analyzed. In the research, literature and archival sources were used within the framework of scientific methods required by the science of history. The findings were processed in line with the objectives of the research.
