Abstract (EN)

Aim: In this study on the osteoporotic rats, which has formed experimental, had been studied the effects of the grape seed extract that is natural antioxidant by using densitometry and biomechanic breaking test on the bone. Material and Method: 40 rats were grouped in to 4 groups randomly. Any medicine or process was applied to the control group. By using ovariectomy to the OVE and OVÜÇE groups it has become osteoporotic. As for Sham(SH) group ovaries were dissected by ovariectomy process but the operation was completed before ovariectomy was spread. Grape seed extract was given to OVÜÇE group for 8 weeks and 300 mg/kg for a day by using the method of gavage. As for to the OVE and SH groups, it has been given in the same quantity with tap water gavage method everyday. Results: By using three point bending test at the middle point bone fragility was measured from the sacrified subjects' right mandibula and right femurs. No differences could found about SH and control groups(P>0,05). But on the contrary, there was a decrease in OVE group compared to control group in both of measurments(P<0,05). In OVÜÇE group compared to control group there was no difference in the bone fragility (P>0,05), it was observed an increase in the bone intensity. Conclusion: These results showed that the person who use grape seed extract can eliminate the negative effects of osteoporosis that happen in the body and can obstruct the complications which may happen due to osteoporosis.
