Research of healing of tendon surface's increasing effect for healing of tendon in experimental repair

Most of compliation after tendon repair are development of adhesionand rupture. In order to prevent the adhesion, early active exercise shouldbe done after operation. But during these exercises there might be rupturs intendons. We have described a new tendon repair method by incerasing thetendon healing surface to minimalisied this complications.In this study forty-eight Legorn type chickens whose weight between1750-2000 gr were used. These chickens were divided into six groupsincluding eight chickens. In each group chickens? 3th finger of right foot wasoperated. Half of the chickens tendons were cut as transvers and wassutured by double modified Kessler method with 5/0 polypropilene. Theother chickens? tendons from end of proximaly upper half and from end ofdistally lower half were exized 3 mm; and sutured by double modifiedKessler method. After the operation the chickens? right feet were made bygypsum plaster at the physiologic position. Tensile strengt test were appliedto the all groups on the 0. day and in 4th week and in 6th week after theoperation. At the comparison of between each groups as in-vitro nodifferences were found. The new method was appeared superior at the 4thweek as in-vivo. This difference was found more increased at the 6th week.The increases of fibrosis and inflamation were found more clear in thenew method at investigation of hystopathologically in the 4th week and 6thweek.At the repaired tendons with new method, both the healing surfaceincreases and the direction of collagen fibers in this surface change.Because of these effects, the tendon healing line?s strongness increasesand early active exercises can be applied safely without rupture at tendonsafter operation, and thus the adhesion can be prevented.Key words: Flexor tendon healing, Tendon tensile strength, Tendon suturetechniques, Tendon adhesion.
