Abstract (EN)
Aim: Studies conducted with drug-active substances used in the treatment of depression are frequently encountered. Many drug analyzes are performed at high costs. In order to quantify the paroxetine in the drug, the load transfer complex with quinalizarin indicator was established; economic, fast, sensitive, selective and simple spectrophotometric method is intended to develop. Material and Method: In our study, the paroxetine drug active substance and quinalizarin were formed by free charge transfer method. The max absorbance values of the complex generated in UV were read. The appropriate solvent was determined. Optimum temperature, duration, concentration of quinalisarin were determined. Metal ligand binding rate was determined by Job method. Results: As a result; methanol was first determined as an optimum solvent with an absorbance value of 0.194 at 294 nm as the appropriate solvent from methanol, ethanol, acetone, acetonitrile, distilled water and chloroform solvents. The concentration of quinalizarin was found 15 ppm as optimum concentration and 180 minutes were determined as optimum time. The optimum temperature was determined as 25oC with an absorbance value of 0,348 at 25oC at 294 nm at pH 5. Conclusion: The active ingredient of paroxetine; new, fast, simple and economical spectrophotometric method has been developed. Key words: Paroxetine, Quinalizarin, Charge Transfer Complex, Method validation, Spectrophotometer
