Using web sites for digital public relations tool: A study on companies in Turkey

The developments in the field of digital communication have led to the transfer of many public relations applications to new communication environments as well as the emergence of new areas of application in public relations. The activities in this new field of application are called digital public relations. Corporate web sites have become an important tool that brings together these digital public relations practices. The aim of this study is to determine the rate of active use of these websites in digital public relations applications and to reveal the relationship between the net sales figures of these companies after the first and last 50 companies are analyzed according to the net sales figures of the companies in the ISO500 survey and examined by the web sites content analysis method. The findings show that the 50 websites at the bottom of the list are not as careful as the 50 websites at the top of the list in terms of digital public relations principles, and companies with websites that comply with these principles have reached higher net earnings. In addition, the findings show that some of the principles have now become a standard and are used by almost all of the top and bottom companies.
