Abstract (EN)
The digitalization process gradually increases the importance of freelance work, which is defined as "ultra flexible" employment. Depending on the working styles, which are in a great transformation with the digitalization of the labor process, there is a shift from the perception of career, in which the perception of the organization is at the forefront, to the perception of career, which is based on the individual, in which the individual takes the management of the career process completely. This study, by revealing freelance work, which has gained momentum as a flexible working style in recent years, and the working relations and career attitudes that have become different with the digitalization of labor, through the personal experiences of freelance workers; It aims to understand the transformation of the labor process and the nature of freelancing. In line with this purpose, a qualitative study was conducted with 28 people working as a freelancer in Turkey. Within the scope of the field research, in-depth interviews were conducted by asking semi-structured questions in order to reveal the reasons for choosing freelance work, past work experiences, current working conditions and career attitudes of freelancers. According to the results of the field research, it was determined that the participants had two different views on the freelance work style, as positive and negative. The first of these is that freelance work provides freer working environment for individuals compared to other forms of work, and it is a satisfying way of working because individuals have more control over their work. The second is that the freelance working style also represents an insecure working style for freelancers. However, in the field study, it has been concluded that in order to have a successful freelance career process, the quality and stability of the dialogue between freelancers and their customers is as important as the quality of the job.
