Abstract (EN)

Ankara Province, which was one of the important cities of Anatolia during the Ottoman Period, created its presence in the region with the castle and the settlement network around it. The fact that the economic activities in the Anatolian geography influenced the trade route revealed the urbanization in Ankara. This study is a local history research. In accordance with the study, the socio-economic structure of Yozgat karyesi was tried to be revealed. Starting from the archive documents and especially the detailed cadastral registers of 1463, which were created during the reign of Fatih Sultan Mehmed, the cadastral registers recorded in the period up to the II. Selim period form the basis of the study. In addition, the property registers, which were started to be kept in the 19th century, constituted another very important source of our research. In addition, the information obtained from the population registers enabled us to reveal the socio-economic status of the village in a more comprehensive way. In the light of these documents, we tried to evaluate the social structure and economic opportunities of the Yozgat karyesi village. According to the documents that are the subject of our research, Yozgat karyesi village has been the most crowded village of the Bala district with 189 households and accordingly the settlement with the highest tax income. Yozgat karyesi, which continues its existence as a separate district with the name Elmadağ today, is one of the important districts of Ankara province economically. Roketsan, which is one of the most important factories of Turkey especially in the defense industry, is located within the borders of this district. With the records of the cadastral registers of 1463, 1522, 1530 and 1571, the types of products produced and the taxes collected were revealed. This study, which is based on primary sources, has been tried to be evaluated in a way that will ensure integrity with the contents obtained from the Republic Archive. Yozgat karyesi draws attention not only with its economic structure, but also with other features. The foundation, which belongs to one of the important foundations of Ankara and belongs to Mehmed, the son of Doğan Bey, had a mosque and a hermitage in the village in question. There are no remains of the mosque today. On the other hand, only two columns of the Zawiya have survived to the present day. In addition, as a result of our research on the sharia registers, as the flow of the foundation in the village it was also revealed that there was a vineyard in Kargalı Bağları locality. In addition to the registration documents, the other documents we have discussed provide sufficient information about the socio-economic structure of the village. Accordingly, the property registers reveal the economic status of the village. Thanks to the contents of the population registers we evaluated, it was possible to reveal the number of households and to determine the occupations of the household heads. Keywords: Ankara, Yozgat Karyesi, Registration Books, Doğan Bey's son Mehmet Foundation, Elmadağ.
