Attention deficiency hyperactivity disorders rating scale-IV preschool Turkish version: Validity and reliability study

The aim of this study was to test the validity reliability of the Turkish version of the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale-IV Preschool Version (ADHD-DÖ-IV Preschool) and toinvestigatethesuitability of the scale as a psychometric diagnostic tool for ADHD symptoms in the preschool population. The control group of the scale adaptation study consisted of parents, relatives and teachers of 400 preschool children who volunteered to participate in the center of Aksaray. The clinical sample of this study included 76 parents, relatives and teachers who agreed to participate voluntarily who have children (16 girls, 21.1%; 60 males, 78.9%) aged between 3-6 years of age who met ADHD and destructive behavior disorder according to DSM-V diagnostic criteria and applied to Cukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Sociodemographic Information Form, Hollingshead Social Status Index, ADHD Rating Scale-IV Preschool Version, Renovated Conners Parent Rating Short Form, Renewed Conners Teacher Rating Short Form and Renewed ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorder Symptoms Screening and Evaluation Scale were used. As data collection tools; According to the findings, it was concluded that the Attention Deficit Rating Scale-IV Parent and Teacher Preschool Version, which was adapted to Turkish has a validity and reliability measure for examining the preschool attention deficit and hyperactivity symptoms. The preschool version of ADHD-DÖ-IV was found to have a 2-factor structure with an eigen value of above 1.20, explaining 63 of the total variance. DFA compliance index values and standardized regression weights of evaluation of compliance indices of the scale consisting of a total of 18 Item 2 sub-dimensions; are between .64 and .86 for attention deficit and .53 to .79 for hyperactivity/impulsivity. It can be said that the factor structure adapts to the determined model. The number of iterations of the substances belonging to the scale were found to be 3. It was seen that the internal consistency coefficients α = .937 (attention deficit) and α=.908 (Hyperactivity/impulsivity) for the subdimensions, and the total internal consistency coefficient was α=.954. The correlation coefficients between the subscales of the Rating Scale-IV Preschool Version and the Renewed Conners Parental Rating Scale and the mean scores of the total scale scores for the criterion validity study were found to be r = .387 (p<.01) and r=.829 (p<.01) and scale total was found to be r=.864 (p<.01). The findings indicate that the structural validity of the scale is appropriate. According to the estimation values obtained by ROC analysis, students' scores were divided into 2 groups as negative and positive (probability of getting a patient diagnosis). According to the predicted values, the rate of those who were diagnosed with attention deficit disorder in the screening group was 2.5%, hyperactivity/impulsivity ratio was 15.4% and total ADHD probability was 4.2%. According to the findings, it was concluded that the Preschool Version of the Attention Deficit Rating Scale-IV, which was adapted toTurkish, was a valid and reliable instrument for examining the preschool attention deficit and hyperactivity symptoms, and the diagnostic performance was very high.
