Abstract (EN)

Social and cultural changes affect each other in a society and the language of that culture, too. The change and the progress in social life can be observed in the very nature of the language itself. Constructing a modern nation requires constructing its language. The language reforms in Turkey aimed that kind of change. Changing the Arabic alphabet into Latin in Turkey in 1928 was one of the radical revolutions. The society was compelled to that kind of change by the government and it happened at once in direct contrast to many changes that take place gradually. The effect of the reform to the language was indispensable. But its contribution is worthy of searching. The reforms at this point should aim to enrich and develop the language. Simplification of language was the main character of the reforms in Turkey. But the studies to simplify the language changed from one government to another and their political ideas. Ideological approaches negatively affected the natural development of language. One of the Dynamics that support a society is education the means of education is language. The language issue should be taken as a state policy and should be out of the policies of the governments because the soundness of the language points to the soundness of the society. It is aimed in this study to evaluate the language policies about Turkish Language, interpret the political processes and delve into the effect of these processes to the Turkish Language. Some observations and suggestions are made to make Turkish a language that meets the needs of its society and to be a mutual communication language among other nations of Turkic origin and to be a language that is spoken in the whole World.
