Nurettin Topçu and Roger Garaudy's perceptions of socialism and İslam in the context of religion and ideology

The concept of ideology has been the subject of different social science disciplines since the 19th century when this concept first emerged. Ideologies claim to provide on hand lifestyle and thought patterns for people and societies. They are concerned about persuading the individual through these patterns. Whether they have a heavenly content or not, religions also offer lifestyle and thought patterns, just like ideologies. For this reason, religions and ideologies are of similar nature, but this similarity does not necessarily lead to the sameness of religion and ideology. In this study, this relationship between religion and ideolgy was discussed through the concepts of Islam and socialism and the views of Nurettin Topçu and Roger Garaudy regarding Islam and socialism were examined and compared.
