Direkli Sarikaya village monography (Sivas province Yildizeli district)

This study, based on Direkli Sarıkaya Village, shows that cultural values have been preserved and practiced by the people living in the village from past to present. Although the elements it contains change according to time and place, various beliefs, practices and practices made by the village people maintain their vitality. The perception of the modern world, the developing technology and the waves of physical and mental migration brought about by industrialization have laid the groundwork for these cultural elements to be forgotten and not applied. While the practices and practices that are the subject of the past tense expressions by the village people meet the basic needs today, they are limited to instant uses in terms of habits. The study was carried out in order to bring to light these elements that reside in the cultural memory, based on the question of whether the information belonging to folk culture still exists today. The so-called traditional cultural elements were recorded and made concrete by interviews with the Resource Persons. Sarıkaya Village, which carries traces of the old Turkish culture, is important in terms of preventing the loss of folk culture and ensuring its transfer to future generations. For this reason, this region was chosen as the scope of the study. Recording oral culture elements in writing prevents the loss of these elements. Another contribution of the field compilation method, which is used as a working method, is to record the different practices applied from the past to the present and to keep them alive. In the prepared study, besides the cultural elements, the history, geography, economy, belief structure, transition periods, clothing, folk medicine, folk calendar, folk measurements, sacred places, children's and youth games, folk cuisine, oral literature types, as well as cultural elements, Family and land names and words used in the region were recorded in their natural environment by interviewing the source people face to face, and this study was prepared to be transferred to future generations.
